Each view controls which status columns appear on the board and which Ideas are visible on its public link. Every product starts with a Default view, and Editors can add more. For example: - A working view for the product team - A curated view for customers **Important:** Custom views do not appear in the table layout or in the All Products view. *Who can use this* - Admins, and users with an editor's license and edit access to the product, can create, edit, and delete views. - Users with view access can switch between views within an individual product. --- ### **Creating & Managing Views** #### **Create a View** There are two ways to create a new view from the Board tab on the Ideas page. 1. Click the Views dropdown and select 'Create New View.' Or: 1. Click 'View Settings' on the right of the board toolbar. 2. Make any change to the view. 3. Click 'Save as New.' #### **Edit a View** 1. Click 'View Settings' on the right of the board toolbar. 2. Rename the view or change its columns. 3. Click 'Save Changes' to update the view, or 'Save as New' to create a copy with your changes applied. 'Save Changes' updates the view for everyone who uses it, including its public link. #### **Delete a View** Any view except the Default view can be deleted from the View Settings drawer. NOTE: Deleting a view is permanent and cannot be undone. Any shared links to that view stop working immediately. --- ### **Sharing a View with a Public Link** A public link lets anyone with the link open a view without a ProductPlan account. Visitors see each Idea's title, description, status, and resources. Sensitive information like signals, dates, and keywords is not shown. *Who can use this:* Editors can create a public link. #### **Create a Public Link** 1. Open the view you want to share. 2. Click 'Share View' next to the view dropdown. 3. Create the link, then click the copy icon to copy it. 4. Optionally, add a public title and description. These appear only on the public page. 5. Click 'Done.' #### **What Visitors See** The public page shows the view's columns and the Ideas you've left visible. Visitors can search to find a specific Idea, and open it in a read-only drawer to see its status, description, and resources, such as a demo, mock, or research. #### **Delete a Public Link** Deleting a link cuts off access for anyone using it, immediately. Creating a link again generates a new URL. --- ### **Choosing Which Ideas Appear** After a public link is created, you can hide individual Ideas from it. Use this to protect Ideas that are sensitive or not ready to share. Ideas are visible by default. #### Hide or Show an Idea 1. Go to the board view where you want to hide the Idea. 2. Find the Idea. 3. Click the eye icon on the Idea card or in the Idea drawer to turn visibility on or off for that view. The change is applied immediately. #### **What Hiding Changes** - **Hiding is set per view.** Hiding an Idea in one view does not affect any other view. - **Hiding only affects the public link.** The board inside ProductPlan still shows every Idea in the view's columns. - **Hidden Ideas stay hidden.** An Idea keeps its visibility when it is dragged or its status changes. - **Columns come first.** If an Idea's column is turned off in the view, the Idea does not appear on the public link, whatever its eye icon shows. --- ### FAQ ***Do visitors need a ProductPlan account to view a public link?*** No - anyone with the link can open it without signing in. ***Can visitors see signals on an Idea?*** No - signals, dates, and keywords are not shown. Visitors see the title, description, status, and resources. ***Can visitors change an Idea?*** No - the Idea drawer on the public page is read-only. ***Does hiding an Idea remove it from my team's board?*** No - hiding only affects the public link. The board inside ProductPlan still shows every Idea in the view's columns. ***Why isn't a visible Idea showing on my public link?*** Its status column may be turned off in the view. Ideas in a turned-off column don't appear on the public link, whatever the eye icon shows. ***Does editing a view change its public link?*** Yes - 'Save Changes' updates the view for everyone, including its public link.
