Timeline Overview

The Strategic Portfolio introduces a newly designed timeline with simplified visuals and improved organization. Key features include:

  • Primary and Secondary Lanes: The timeline is organized into primary lanes for top-level objectives and secondary lanes for opportunities. The third lane will be the associated roadmap bars and containers.

  • Improved Visibility: Easily view and understand the relationships between your objectives, opportunities and roadmap items.

Strategic Elements Displayed

The Strategic Portfolio provides a holistic view of your strategy by displaying:

  • Objectives: Your selected objectives are displayed as primary lanes. If objectives are related via parent-child relationships, only the top-most parent objective will be displayed as the primary lane. All child-objectives within that family will be rolled up by visualizing their connected opportunities and roadmap items alongside the primary parent objective.

  • Opportunities: Associated opportunities are shown within the relevant objective lanes. If no opportunities are connected, all top-level bars and containers will be represented in a secondary lane titled Non-opportunity work.

  • Bars and Containers: Top-level bars and containers from your roadmaps are included. This means that where relevant, we will only show the container as an object on the timeline, not any of its child bars. If a bar is uncontained, it will also display on the timeline.

  • Team Information: Team names associated with both objectives and opportunities are displayed.

  • Legend: The legend will display as Planned, In Progress or Complete. These values are determined by the percent complete of each bar or container. Anything with 0 percent complete will display as planned while 100 percent complete will display as complete. All values in between will display as In Progress.

Time Range Options

Customize your view with flexible time range options. By default, the Strategic Portfolio will generate as a 6-month view with the first month being determined by the date the view was generated.

  • Adjustable Units: Switch between weeks, months, quarters and years.

  • Variable Duration: Modify the timespan to focus on shorter or longer periods as needed.

Progress Tracking

Stay informed about the status of your initiatives:

  • Date Indicators: Clearly see start and end dates for bars and containers.

  • Progress Visualization: Quickly understand the progress of items through color-coding (Planned, In Progress, Complete).
