Strategic Portfolio's pivotable legends empowers you to define the legend on your Strategic Portfolio views, making it easier to communicate what's most important to each audience.
Changing Your Legend
By default, the Strategic Portfolio utilizes a progress-based legend. With Pivotable Legends, you have the power to define the legend that should be used on your Strategic Portfolio. Shared legends or single-select dropdown fields (at the account and team level) can now be designated as the legend on the Strategic Portfolio. Additionally, each custom view within a Strategic Portfolio can leverage a different legend, giving you the ability to tailor your presentations to match the context of any stakeholder group or audience and quickly see work grouped and color-coded by themes that align with their needs.
- To get started, open a saved Strategic Portfolio and click the Edit button to access the Strategic Portfolio Editor.
- Under the Format section, click the Legend dropdown.
- Select progress (default legend), a shared legend, or a single-select dropdown.
- Click Save as new view to create a new view with this legend, or click Save to update the existing view with this legend.
The Strategic Portfolio will update to reflect the selected legend. Items without an assigned value for that legend will appear under the "Unlabeled" category, visualized as the color grey. Teams can review unlabeled items and update data as needed.
Each custom view within a Strategic Portfolio can use its own legend, enabling you to customize each view according to the needs of your unique audiences.
Best Practices
- Tailor your Strategic Portfolio to your audience
- Consider what data is most relevant to the audience the Strategic Portfolio is being presented to or shared with. Leverage different legends for different custom views to drive clearer, more relevant conversations.
- Be mindful of which legend you choose
- Pick a shared legend or single-select dropdown that's consistently applied across roadmaps in your portfolio. Ensure bars and containers have labels to avoid empty items.
