It is either a file you upload or a link to something that lives somewhere else. Teams use them two ways, and most do both. Some resources communicate the Idea outward, like a demo video or a design mock. Others keep the discovery work with the Idea it produced, like research results or a competitive analysis. **Resources display in three places:** 1. Playback controls come from the browser, so they vary a little depending on which one is being used. --- #### **Adding Resources** Users with edit access to a product can add almost any type of resource, from videos and images to documents and URLs. **Upload a file** Uploaded files attach directly to the Idea and take their name from the file name, so files should be renamed before uploading. 1. Open an Idea and click the Resources tab. 2. In the Add resources panel, click to upload and select one or more files, or drag them onto the upload area. 3. The files appear in the list once the upload finishes. Most common file types are supported, including MP4, MOV, GIF, JPG, PNG, PDF, XLS, DOC and PPT, up to 250MB each. **Add a Link** Links cover anything that cannot be uploaded, like a prototype, or a survey. They join the list alongside your files and open in a new tab when clicked. 1. In the Add resources panel, switch to the URL option. 2. Enter display text and the URL. Both are required. 3. Whether looking at it as the thumbnail on the Idea card in the board view, or as the primary item when they first open an individual Idea. It can help you easily communicate the most important thing about your idea. The first resource added becomes the featured one automatically. Changing it takes a single click, available to users with edit access. 1. Open an Idea and click the Resources tab. The featured resource sits first in the list with a filled star. 2. An Idea with resources always has one featured, so the designation cannot be cleared, only moved to a different resource. #### **Working with Resources** The Resources tab holds everything attached to the Idea, with the featured one first and the rest ordered by most recent upload. **Download** Any uploaded file can be downloaded from its resource, by anyone with access to the Idea – editor or viewer. 1. Navigate to the Resources tab of an Idea. 2. Click the “...” menu on an individual Idea card. 3. Select the Download option. **Delete** An user with edit access to the product, can delete a resource on an Idea regardless of who added it. 1. Navigate to the Resources tab of an Idea. 2. Click the “...” menu on an individual Idea card. 3. Select the Delete option. 4. Confirm the deletion. Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone. If the deleted resource was the featured one, the most recent remaining resource takes its place. #### **Merging Ideas with Resources** Merging Ideas pulls every resource onto the survivor. If the survivor already has a featured resource, it does not change. Otherwise, a featured resource from one of the merged Ideas will become the featured resource on the survivor. --- ### **FAQ** ***Can resources be shared with people outside the account?*** No. Resources are only visible to users with access to the product. ***Can a resource be renamed after it's added?*** No. A resource takes its name from the file name, so rename files before uploading. To change a name, delete the resource and add it again. ***What happens to resources when I merge Ideas?*** Nothing is lost. Every resource from the Ideas you merge away moves onto the surviving Idea. ***Can I remove the featured resource without picking a new one?*** No. An Idea with resources always has one featured.
