Creating and Managing Idea Forms with Custom Fields

Overview

The Ideas Form is a powerful tool that helps you collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders, customers and other team members. For Enterprise customers, you have the enhanced capability of adding custom fields, which allows you to gather more structured and detailed feedback through your forms.

Creating an Idea Form

Start by navigating to your Ideas space within the Discovery portal (lightbulb icon). This is where you can create a new intake form. For more information on building this form, visit the article here. As you build your form, you can add prompts to gather specific feedback from your stakeholders. 

When adding custom fields to your form, you'll have three types to choose from: text fields for open-ended responses, dropdown menus for single selection options, and multi-select fields when you want to allow multiple choices. 

Managing Custom Fields

Custom fields can be managed at two different levels within your organization. Account Admins can create account-level fields through the Account -> Standardize section, making these fields available across all teams. For more specific needs, Team Admins can create team-level fields through Account -> Users -> [Team Name], which will be targeted to members of that particular team.

Collecting Feedback

Once your form is set up, you can share it with stakeholders using a simple link. One of the great advantages of this system is that stakeholders don't need a ProductPlan account to submit their feedback. All responses automatically appear in your Ideas space. This makes it easy to track and manage incoming feedback.

When reviewing submitted ideas, you'll find all custom field responses conveniently displayed in the idea drawer. 

Form Management

You have complete control over your forms. You can create as many forms as you need and enable or disable them at any time.
